Every day, companies around the globe transfer their
email service to MailStreet. The process
consists of the following four steps and in many cases can be
completed in less than 24 hours.
|
|
|
Place an Order For New MailStreet Service
First, an order is placed for a free trial of the MailStreet
hosted Microsoft Exchange service. After the order is completed, you will
receive a "Welcome to Mailstreet" email with all of the new account settings.
At this point fully-functional "empty" mailboxes have provisioned by our Support Engineers
and are ready to start receiving email.

|
Change DNS/Domain Name Records
The next step is pointing your domain's MX record
to MailStreet so that new email stops going to your
exisiting mail server/host and starts going to MailStreet.
Optionally, you can also transfer the whole domain and we will host the
DNS/MX records for free. MX record changes usually propagate
across the Internet quickly (between 1 and 24 hours)
and whole domain transfers take longer (24-48 hours).
If you do not wish to transfer your domain's DNS/MX Record over, or
are just testing the service, you may also "forward" email to the
new mailboxes. MailStreet Support engineers can assign an @mailstreet.com
alias to each mailbox for use in forwarding email to your new accounts.
Furthermore, if you do not have your own domain, you can choose a "sub-domain"
of mailstreet.com (example: @mycompany.mailstreet.com).
In this situation, the domain is instantly available and requires
no DNS changes on your part.

Configure Outlook Software
After completing the DNS changes, you may then configure new Outlook profiles
on each computer that will use the service. You will use Outlook to connect
to your MailStreet accounts. Optionally, you can use Outlook Web Access which
requires no additional configuration. Also, If you get stuck, we are here to help -
our live helpdesk is open until Midnight (EST/EDT) during the week to fully assist with new
account setups. 24 hour/7 day emergency support is also available if you have trouble after
the initial setup.
|
|
Import Existing Data/Email
Lastly, you may also want to import existing data to your new MailStreet mailbox.
Typically this consists of uploading Calendar and Contact data from an old Outlook profile.
You may also choose to import all or none of your previous email correspondence. In either
event, this is completed using the "Import/Export Wizard" feature of Microsoft Outlook.
If you have alot of data to import, we can also assist you in this process by providing an FTP site
where you may upload the Outlook data (PST files) and our engineers will import this data for a
nominal hourly fee.
